The Cattle Raid of Cooley takes a week off

I’m afraid there’s no page this week – many apologies.  Nothing dramatic – just knackered, and the drawing bit of my brain is being a little uncooperative.  I know what should be happening on page 40, I’ve even got a pretty clear idea what it needs to look like, but it’s just not going down on paper.  So I’m calling in sick, and will return next Wednesday, refreshed and reinvigorated.  Thanks for your patience.

If you miss your weekly fix of Iron Age Irish adventure, you could always call over to Oghme Comics, where Breton artist Mirlikovir and Parisian writer Cathbad are doing Cucuc: Little Brute from the Iron Age – a webcomic about the young Cú Chulainn (or Setanta as he was known then)’s mischievous childhood (you can also read it in French).

We just received you update via Facebook. Thanks a lot for the link !

Though we are very fond of Irish Epics, we also really feel awkward when addressing the whole english/gaelic-speaking community. For instance, we cannot read Gaelic first hand. We only know of the Gaelic texts through translations. We spend huge amounts of time on google trying to figure out what some places might look like (Emain Macha & Navan Fort, obviously), etc…

And we love your work. It’s very true to (what we know of) the myths. Mirlikovir (the illustrator at oghme comics) is particularly fond of your animal drawings.

All this to say that, for us, getting recognition from an Irish artist such as Patrick Brown really means A LOT. We’re so glad we could get drunk all night.

And as a matter of fact, we’re going to.

    Thanks, Patrick !
