Enforced downtime

Apologies to anyone wondering where this week’s episode of The Cattle Raid of Cooley is. My hard drive died a couple of days ago, so I haven’t been able to do one. I’ve got a replacement and am now back online, and busy reconstructing my computer. Hopefully normal service will be resumed next week.

The Cattle Raid of Cooley interlude

My brain is tired, so I’m taking this week off from drawing The Cattle Raid of Cooley.  As a substitute, here’s a convention sketch I did some time ago of Fergus reminiscing about the old days, which I recently found while having a clear-out.  I’ve doctored it slightly with some digital Letratone-simulation.

Fergus reminisces

You may also have noticed I’ve added one of those spam-blocker things where you have to type what’s in the graphic before you can leave a comment.  I’m afraid the volume of spam has just got too much for me – I went away to Edinburgh for three days and got back to nearly 1500 comments in my spam box to sort through.  Since 2007 I’ve had 348 comments from people leaving their thoughts on the contents of the site, as opposed to 51,258 robots trying to sell me dodgy pharmaceuticals, all of which I’ve had to trawl through just in case there’s been a legitimate comment thrown in the bin by mistake – and there have been a few.

I really can’t be bothered with it anymore. I hope this won’t be too much of an inconvenience to any of you who actually want to leave comments.

This site is experiencing difficulties

Apologies to anyone expecting this weeks page of Under the Bed, but WordPress is playing up.  It won’t let me post anything but plain text – no graphics and no html tables, which the navigation bars are based on. There’s a new version of WordPress it wants me to upgrade to, but I’ve tried that half a dozen times and it won’t work.

The site’s obviously going to need a bit of work to it, but, nerd as I am, it’s nearly Christmas and I’ve more important things to be worrying about, so it’s entirely possible there’ll be no Cattle Raid of Cooley tomorrow either, but hopefully we’ll be back in business before too much longer. Apologies again.

Certified malware-free!

Google tell me they’ve finished their review and the site is clean.  The warning pages are being removed, but it’ll apparently take a while for the change to propagate.  Normal service will now be resumed.

This site apparently hosts malware

Or so Google thinks anyway.  I’ve stripped out everything that might be setting off their sensors and asked for a review, but until I get the all clear all updates are suspended. Not worth the risk.

Site crash!

The site was down for a while there. It seems my History of Irish Comics, which has been linked to by some very influential blogs, including Scamp, Drawn, Forgotten Pelmet International and Journalista, has been so popular that I’ve exceeded my bandwidth limit! I’ve now upgraded it, so hopefully we’ll be all right for a while.
